Environmental Geography

I chose environmental geography. I chose this because environmental geography interests me. Environmental geography is the interactions between humans and the natural world. Environmental geography is effects North America because its climate, vegetation, and landforms have a very wide range. The precipitation is different from west coast to east coast and north to south. All of the types of forests are different too.
The climate in North America is very mild, and we experience all of the seasons equally. Around the Great Lakes it is characterized by relatively a long growing season, and has gets 30-60 inches of rain a year. Also they have a deciduous broadleaf forest, that they use for a lot of commercial agriculture. North of the Great lakes they have coniferous evergreen or boreal forest, which is more dominant in the cooler regions (ex. Quebec). Near Hudson Bay they’re tundra’s, which has a very short growing season. Climates between west Texas and Alberta have many tornadoes, and the average precipitation is between 10-30 inches yearly. It straddles the transition zone between humid and arid portions of North America. The subhumid regions is blessed with fertile soils and was originally clothed in prairie vegetation. Western North American climates are influenced by the Pacific Ocean. An example is San Francisco has a dry summer, and the Mediterranean climate is present in southern California.
Climate, region, and location… All attribute to what effects North America. North America is a very diverse region. North America is one of a kind and one of the most diverse, other than China and Asia, etc…
